VR360 Pan-Lock

$36.95

The Pan-Lock is an option for the VR360 camera mount.  the Pan-Lock is a spring loaded locking mechanism that locks the pan axis of the VR360 to the helicopter when the helicopter/VR360 is on the ground. After take-off the Pan-Lock disengages and allows the VR360 to pan.

This is useful as the helicopter can overdrive the pan servo of the VR360 during main blade spoolup prior to take-off.  The Pan-Lock prevents the helicopter torque from spinning the helicopter on the VR360 thus possibly damaging the pan servo.

The Pan-Lock is NOT required if you are only planning to shoot panoramas from the VR360.  The VR360 has a built in one-way bearing in the main pan gear which prevents the helicopter torque from driving the pan servo.  However, being a one-way bearing it will only allow panning in one direction.  Panning in one direction is fine for panorama shooting but not desired for oblique still or video shooting.

If you plan to use the option VR Oblique camera gimbal we highly recommend the Pan-Lock option.
